Civil rights leaders called on President Biden to use his voice, influence and power to ensure access to the ballot box for all Americans. While Biden isn’t staying silent, it’s unclear if his current efforts will create any significant change. Biden is slated to give remarks on voting rights in Philadelphia today. Reminder that the City of Brotherly Love is just one of the areas targeted by Former President Trump with false claims about voter fraud. Trump narrowly lost Pennsylvania to Biden in the 2020 election. Public pressure alone hasn’t been successful in beating back the onslaught of GOP-sponsored restrictive voting legislation. Without all Democrats on the same page on filibuster reform, federal voting reform will likely remain in limbo while states like Texas move toward passing restrictive voting legislation.

President Biden’s Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci asked unvaccinated Americans to put politics aside and get the shot to protect themselves from the highly transmissible and “nasty” delta variant in an interview with ABC News over the weekend. “We’ve got to get away from the divisiveness that has really been a problem right from the very beginning with this outbreak,” Fauci added. His comments come as the White House continues to push its vaccination campaign after falling short of the administration’s 70% goal for the Fourth of July. The campaign has been a target for Republicans recently, with South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster misrepresenting the efforts on Friday and directing the state’s health agency to prohibit the “Biden administration’s door-to-door” tactics (the federal government is not going door-to-door, but rather encouraging local volunteers to do so). When Karen asked about the pushback on Friday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said “the failure to provide accurate public health information, including the efficacy of vaccines and the accessibility of them to people across the country, including South Carolina, is literally killing people. So maybe they should consider that.”

ABC's Mark Remillard - June 30, 2021 - KRDO's Afternoon News
Wednesday Jun 30, 2021
Wednesday Jun 30, 2021
Pennsylvania's highest court has overturned Bill Cosby's sex assault conviction after finding an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged in the case. Cosby has served more than two years of a three- to 10-year sentence at a state prison near Philadelphia. He had vowed to serve all 10 years rather than acknowledge any remorse over the 2004 encounter with accuser Andrea Constand. Cosby was charged in late 2015, when a prosecutor armed with newly unsealed evidence -- Cosby's damaging deposition from her lawsuit -- arrested him days before the 12-year statute of limitations expired. Justice David Wecht said that overturning the conviction, and barring any further prosecution, "is the only remedy that comports with society's reasonable expectations of its elected prosecutors and our criminal justice system." The 83-year-old Cosby, who was once beloved as "America's Dad," was convicted of drugging and molesting the Temple University employee at his suburban estate. Mark explains how this all unfolded.

Many people are confused by Medicare networks and how things are coded. We have seen clients get billed for things in error because a visit may have been coded wrong. This seems to be happening more often, perhaps because of the amount of remote work that is happening now because of COVID. We encourage everyone, especially those who have Medicare, to look at their statements and make sure that they are being billed for the correct services. If people have questions about this, feel free to contact us at medicarementorsllc@gmail.com and we would be happy to review their bills with them.
