A recent U.S. Small Business Administration report indicates notable trends in the small business sector, pointing to a rise in women-owned and minority-owned businesses in Colorado. These reports coincide with National Hispanic Heritage Month. An economic report released recently by the State of Colorado shows an uptick in small business filings in the State, in the first half of 2023. On Thursday's "The Extra", Colorado Preservation, Inc. (CPI) received an award from the National Park Service’s Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant to develop a subgrant program to support and stimulate historic preservation projects in Colorado’s rural historic downtowns.  These would be for communities with a 2020 census population of 50,000 or less. CPI's Executive Director Jennifer Orrigo Charles anticipates awarding nearly $600,000 to historic preservation projects in communities across Colorado. On Thursday's "The Extra", the group Food to Power joined host Shannon Brinias. Food to Power is a grassroots food justice nonprofit focusing on creating an equitable food system in Colorado Springs. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness - March 20, 2023 - The Extra with Andrew Rogers

Like other forms of dementia, frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, is a disease without a cure. It is the most common form of dementia affecting people under the age of 60. Actor Bruce Willis recently announced that he has been diagnosed with FTD. While there is no cure, there are many resources available to help families better understand the disease and its progression and to plan for the changes that come with it.

Andrew Rogers was joined by Meg Donahue, Director of Family Services, Alzheimer's Association of Colorado, and Stephanie Barnard a speech-language pathologist with Taylor Neuro Specialists to discuss.
