New mask policies are back in parts of the country as the so-called “tripledemic” of COVID-19, RSV, and the flu spikes nationwide. In New York City, and in several other prominent locations in California and in Arizona officials aren’t instituting mask mandates— but highly recommending them. Concerns are especially growing around the elderly – the most at-risk demographic. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, about half of nursing home recipients are up-to-date on their COVID vaccines.
