Overnight, Hollywood actors officially went on strike, with the first picketing starting Friday. SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher (yes, The Nanny), gave a fiery press conference in which she called the studios “greedy” and “crazy.” It seems the two sides are VERY far apart, and this could go on for a while. Jason can talk to you about all the issues involved, and how it’ll further affect what you watch. Also, a big movie is out this week! “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning part 1” has Tom Cruise back on the big screen in an attempt to save the summer box office. The early reviews were glowing, but does it live up to the hype? Jason has thoughts.

The women’s semifinals of Wimbledon were held at the All-England Club on Thursday. Sixth-seeded Tunisian Ons Jabeur bounced back after dropping the first set to beat second-seed Aryna Sabalanka, advancing to her second straight Wimbledon final. Jabeur lost to Elena Rybakina in the final last year. In this year’s final, to be held on Saturday, Jabeur will take on unseeded Czech player Marketa Vondrousova, who eliminated Elina Svitolina in the semis on Thursday. Meanwhile, the men’s semifinals will be held Friday, as Novak Djokovic faces eight-seed Yannick Sinner, with a chance to advance to his fifth straight final at the All-England Club. Djokovic is just one Wimbledon title short of Roger Federer’s all-time record of eight. The other men’s semifinal features top-seed Carlos Alcaraz against three-seed Daniil Medvedev. Both players looking for their first appearance in a final at Wimbledon.

Police in Pueblo are investigating two overnight shootings. Both of which, took place on the city’s east side. The first was off 2nd street, near 4th and Portland Avenue.

Heat advisories and excessive heat warnings are spreading over the Western and Southern United States. Many will remain in effect until Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service recommends people drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

In Fairfax County Virginia an 18-year-old who was too young to purchase a handgun from a licensed gun dealer and who was an admitted drug dealer with mental health issues (according to court records), purchased a ghost gun online along with the assembly kit and assembled it. He later killed two 17-year-olds. Ghost gun purchases do not require bank accounts and it is just as easy as going to a convenience store, getting a debit card and have the ghost gun shipped via U.S. Mail. ATF has reported a dramatic increase in ghost gun purchases, especially among teenagers. 

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says a suspect is facing second-degree murder charges for the death of a police officer earlier this year.
