Another big name car manufacturer is going all-electric. Mercedes-Benz announced today that from 2025 onwards, all newly launched cars will be electric-only and customers will be able to choose an all-electric alternative for every model the company makes. Other carmakers including Volkswagen's Audi, General Motors and Volvo have also indicated they are moving away from gasoline and diesel engines over the long term. And for those who already own EV's, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said earlier this week that the company’s DC fast-charging stations, also known as the "Tesla Supercharger network," will be opening up to other types of electric vehicles later this year.

COVID-19 numbers nationwide are continuing their quick upward trend. The rise has been dramatic in recent days among mainly the unvaccinated. In Northeast Florida hospitals are reporting they are approaching or exceeding levels seen during the worst of the pandemic. Despite some breakthrough cases the CDC is standing firm that fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to return to masking but that discussions are currently underway to figure out if that guidance will change. In Los Angeles cases have risen 20 fold over the same day a month ago. LA County reported over 2500 new cases on Wednesday. If CA were to still be using color coded tiers LA would be in the most restrictive purple tier again.

Last week, Safe Passage broke ground on a new co-located children’s advocacy center on the westside of Colorado Springs. Safe Passage is a nationally accredited children’s advocacy group, and the new Center will that provide hope and healing to children who have experienced abuse and neglect, through a communal space bringing together key partner agencies. U.S. gymnast Kara Eaker's coach has confirmed that the 18-year-old alternate has tested positive at the Olympic training camp. The coach said the 18-year-old Eaker was vaccinated against the novel coronavirus two months ago. U.S. tennis player Coco Gauff has also tested positive for the coronavirus, forcing her to pull out of the games. A third athlete at the Olympic Village in Tokyo has tested positive for COVID-19, with the Czech Republic team reporting the case today of a beach volleyball player who could miss his first game.
